CENTRAL PLANTATION MASTER PLAN GOALS

The City of Plantation has been successful in attracting corporate offices, regional malls, community retail and governmental agencies to Central Plantation. The City is now actively pursuing the next phase in community development and economic sustainability by master planning the area to achieve long term, community wide goals that help maintain the vitality of the central business district. The Master Plan will guide future decisions on public policy, investment and economic development to ensure that the central business district continues to be a benefit to the entire community and be recognized as a premiere South Florida business district.

The purpose of this Master Plan is to take a fresh and comprehensive look at the Central Plantation area and establish plans and policies for public and private investment that will achieve the following goals:

• Involve the public's ideas and vision about the future of the area.
• Encourage strategic economic development and revitalization in the area.
• Improve transportation systems to reduce traffic congestion, improve circulation and provide alternate modes of transportation.
• Create transportation linkages within the area and to other parts of the City.
• Plan for a sustainable mix of uses, businesses, residences, public services and activities to serve the area and the entire City of Plantation.
• Define appropriate and desired buildings types and concepts for streetscapes, plazas and public places.
• Provide a framework for the implementation of the Central Plantation Master Plan.

The Master Plan will contain several important components that will be needed to analyze plan information and alternatives, guide public discussions, evaluate costs and benefits and establish implementation programs. These Master Plan components include:

• Continuous public involvement
• Market analysis
• Transportation and mobility
• Master plan alternatives and analysis
• Conceptual site development plans

This comprehensive approach to the planning phase of the project will be completed in a nine-month project schedule that will involve several opportunities for public ideas and comments.
